Alcohol addiction rehabilitation in Kyiv
The person lives at the FAVOR rehabilitation center and works with a psychotherapist and addiction counselors: one-on-one, in a group, and together with their family. The program is put together after a consultation and only with the person’s own consent.

Alcohol addiction rehabilitation in brief
Alcohol addiction rehabilitation is a recovery program that begins once the acute state has passed. At the FAVOR center, the person lives on site, works with a psychotherapist and counselors, and attends group sessions. Family members receive separate help. The program is put together after a consultation and starts only with the person’s voluntary consent.
- FAVOR rehabilitation center in Kyiv. We give the address by phone
- A psychotherapist, chemical dependency counselors
- A consultation; if the person is still drinking, treatment comes first
- from 25,000 UAH per month
Who rehabilitation is for and what to do first
Rehabilitation suits a person who is no longer on a binge, feels physically stable, and agrees to the program of their own accord. If the person is drinking now or has just stopped, alcohol withdrawal treatment at home or at the inpatient unit comes first. When to start is decided at the consultation and, if needed, after a doctor’s examination.
Rehabilitation can begin when
- The acute state has passed: the person is not drinking and feels physically stable
- The person agrees to live at the center and work with specialists
- Previous attempts to quit drinking did not last long
- They want to understand why relapses keep happening, not just wait out the bad days
Treatment first, then rehabilitation, when
- The person is on a binge or has been drinking in the last few days
- Previous attempts to quit involved seizures, hallucinations, or confusion
- The person has serious illnesses that require a doctor’s supervision
- Besides alcohol, the person uses other substances or sedatives without a prescription
- The person is disoriented or may harm themselves
When the start of rehabilitation is postponed
Rehabilitation is not a medical procedure, but in some conditions treatment is needed first. If in doubt, a center specialist will suggest an examination by an addiction doctor or psychiatrist first.
When to call 103, not the center
If the person’s life is at risk, call an ambulance first. You can call us afterwards.
- the person is unconscious or cannot be woken up;
- breathing is slow, raspy, or has pauses;
- seizures have started;
- the person sees or hears things that are not there, or does not recognize loved ones;
- chest pain or pressure;
- the person talks about suicide, says goodbye, or threatens to harm themselves.
If the person talks about suicide, don’t leave them alone and call 103 or 112. When there is no immediate danger but the thoughts won’t go away, free psychological support lines are listed on the website of the “Ty yak?” (How are you?) program: howareu.com.
How rehabilitation at FAVOR works
Rehabilitation at FAVOR has five stages: the call, the consultation, the plan, life at the center, and support after discharge. The first step is a phone conversation, and it doesn’t commit you to anything. How long each stage takes depends on the person and their condition.
-
The call
Tell us what’s happening: how long the person has been drinking, whether they have tried to stop, and how they feel now. Family members can call. The conversation is free.
-
Consultation
A specialist asks about the person’s physical and psychological state, previous treatment attempts, and what is going on in the family. If the person is still drinking, they will first be offered inpatient alcohol withdrawal treatment or treatment at home. A consultation at the center costs from 1,000 UAH.
-
The plan
The specialist and the person draw up a plan together: whom they will work with, on what, and for how long. Rehabilitation begins only with their voluntary consent.
-
Life at the center
The person lives at the center. They work with a psychotherapist and chemical dependency counselors one-on-one and in a group, and the family takes part in family meetings. For details on living arrangements, see the Accommodation page.
-
After discharge
When the main program ends, contact with the center continues: consultations, groups, help for the family, a relapse plan. Learn more on the Aftercare support page.
What alcohol addiction rehabilitation includes
Alcohol addiction rehabilitation usually combines individual work, group sessions, family work, and preparation for life after discharge. The goal is to learn to notice what pushes you toward drinking and to have a plan for what to do. FAVOR offers each of these components.
- One-on-one sessions with a psychotherapist: emotional crises, anxiety, relationships, the reasons the person drinks.
- Group sessions where people with similar experiences discuss their difficulties and support each other.
- Family work: meetings with family members to rebuild trust and agree on how to move forward.
- Relapse prevention: how to recognize risky situations and what to do when the urge to drink comes.
- Preparation for returning home: work, studies, daily life, social circle.

How we protect confidentiality
Contacting FAVOR is confidential. On the phone, you can describe the situation without giving the person’s surname. We don’t share data from website requests with third parties.
- A family member can call without giving the name of the person concerned.
- We give the center’s address by phone, not on the website.
- How form data is processed: see the Privacy policy.
How family members can bring up rehabilitation
Only the person can decide to go to rehab; they cannot be forced. Family members can do other things: talk calmly, learn about the options, and take care of themselves. You can consult a specialist even before your loved one agrees.
- Talk when the person is sober, not during an argument or after drinking.
- Describe what you see without labels: “this is the third week you’ve come home drunk,” not “you’re an alcoholic.”
- Suggest a concrete step: call together or come to a consultation.
- Don’t make threats, and don’t promise what you won’t follow through on.
- If the person refuses, you can come back to the conversation later. One refusal is not a final answer.
- FAVOR offers separate help for loved ones: psychotherapist consultations and family meetings.
Take care of yourself too. Families of people with addiction also need support at times, and asking for it is normal.

How long does rehabilitation last?
The length is agreed with the person after a consultation. For reference, the Ukrainian state standard for social and psychological rehabilitation of people with drug addiction describes short programs of 28 days to 3 months and long ones of 3 to 6 months. FAVOR also has a separate 28-Day Program.
-
Can a person be sent to rehab without their consent?
No. Rehabilitation at FAVOR begins only with the voluntary consent of an adult; there is no coercion. But family members can get advice right now: a specialist will suggest how to talk to your loved one without starting a fight.
-

Do family members take part?
Yes, if the person wants it. FAVOR offers family work with a psychotherapist: meetings where the family learns to talk without blame and agrees on how to live after discharge.
