FAQ

Short answers to the questions people ask most often on the FAVOR hotline: confidentiality, prices, consent to treatment, choosing between care at home and inpatient care, rehabilitation and support for families. If your question isn’t here, call us: phone consultations are free.

Contacting us and anonymity

  • Can I contact you anonymously?

Yes. On the phone you don’t have to give your surname or the surname of the person you’re asking about. Tell us what’s going on, and we’ll suggest where to start.

  • Will my employer, neighbors or the police find out?

FAVOR doctors keep medical confidentiality. How we process data is described in our privacy policy.

  • Can I call on behalf of my husband, father or son rather than myself?

Yes, most often it’s family members who call. You don’t need to know the diagnosis or the procedure required. Just tell us what’s going on and how the person feels right now, and we’ll explain the options.

  • When can I call?

The hotline is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The number and messaging apps are on the Contacts page.

Prices

  • How much does a consultation cost?

A phone consultation is free. An in-person consultation costs from 1,000 UAH. All prices are on the Prices page.

  • How much does a home visit by an addiction doctor cost?

A doctor’s visit and examination without an IV drip costs from 1,500 UAH; an IV drip at home including the visit costs from 2,900 UAH. Visits outside Kyiv cost more, and we’ll tell you the surcharge over the phone. Details are on the Home visit by an addiction doctor page.

  • How much do inpatient care and rehabilitation cost?

A day at the inpatient addiction clinic costs from 3,500 UAH, a month of rehabilitation from 25,000 UAH, and coding from 4,500 UAH. Prices are valid as of October 17, 2026 and do not constitute a public offer.

  • Why are prices listed as “from”?

The final amount depends on the person’s condition and on what the doctor prescribes after the examination. You’ll know the cost before the procedure starts and can decline.

Consent to treatment

  • Can a person be treated without their consent?

No. An adult consents to medical care themselves, and FAVOR does not hospitalize anyone against their will. Rehabilitation is also strictly voluntary. If the person’s condition is life-threatening, call 103.

  • What if my loved one doesn’t want treatment?

Call us and get advice for yourself: we’ll suggest how to start the conversation without threats or arguments. Family members can come to a consultation without the person with the addiction.

  • Can a person be “coded” without their knowledge?

No. Coding is done only with the person’s own voluntary written consent, after the doctor has explained what to expect. Secretly adding medication to food or drink is dangerous. More on the Alcohol aversion therapy (“coding”) page.

Treatment and rehabilitation

  • Which is better: care at home or inpatient care?

The doctor decides after an examination. Care at home is an option when the person’s condition allows them to manage without round-the-clock supervision. The doctor will most likely suggest inpatient care if there have been seizures or hallucinations before, or if the person has used opioids, sedatives or several substances at once. For a comparison, see the Home visit by an addiction doctor and Inpatient addiction clinic pages.

  • What is the difference between detox and rehabilitation?

Detox relieves the acute state after substance use: the person spends a few days under a doctor’s supervision. Rehabilitation is work with a psychologist and counselors to learn to live without using. See Inpatient detox and Alcohol addiction rehabilitation.

  • How long does rehabilitation last?

The length is agreed with the person after a consultation. There is the intensive 28-Day Program, after which we recommend aftercare support.

  • Which coding methods do you use?

The doctor chooses the method together with the patient after an examination. We do not publish medication names on the site.

  • Do you help with gambling addiction?

Yes, FAVOR offers gambling addiction rehabilitation. Call and tell us about the situation: even if a different kind of help is needed, we’ll suggest where to turn.

For family and loved ones

  • Can I visit the person at the inpatient clinic or center?

Call us and we’ll explain how meetings with family are arranged. Accommodation is described on the Accommodation page.

  • Is there help for family members?

Yes. During the 28-Day Program there are consultations for family members, and after rehabilitation there are family meetings as part of aftercare. You can get advice by phone at any time, even if your loved one isn’t ready for treatment yet.

  • What documents and belongings are needed for admission?

Bring any medications the person takes regularly and hospital discharge summaries, if there are any. We’ll give you the exact list of belongings over the phone.

  • What should I do if the person becomes very unwell?

If the person is unconscious, having seizures, breathing slowly or with a rattling sound, or talking about suicide, call 103 or 112. Don’t wait for an addiction doctor: this is a job for an ambulance. Other warning signs are listed on the Disclaimer page.
